How can you tell the difference Chicago, Texan and Lousinanan Blues?
I just saw this documentary all great blues musicians who ever played at Antones in Texas and i just curious to know the difference, also correct me if I’m wrong: Guitar, Harmonica and Piano are they the essencial instruments in Blues? Just curious that’s all thanx :D

OK a few basics about “The Blues ” and it’s origins in the Mississipi river delta.
Poor blacks in the deep south of the USA used the most basic instruments, like the guitar and the mouth organ ( harmonica ) and their voices to make music that was uniquely theirs. The original roots were in the church music that they leaned to sing as children.
Original 12 bar blues can be modified in many ways, by moving chords and changing the tempo ( speed of the tune ) and by repeating a phrase over again.
Delta blues are non electric, with no drums. Chicago style is bar music, with drums and electric ampilfied guitars and brass horns ( sax trumpet and trombone ) all going flat out.
Texas is a mix with some spanish influences and more swing to it.
Some example of well known blues players are :
BB King, a old style Chicago player, with his favourire guitar ” Lucille ” . Been playing since he left Mississipi at age 10.
A old style Delta Blues player, long dead, was Howling Wolf, and another was Brownie McGee.
A white boy that really could play Texas blues was Stevie Ray Vaughan, who died, too young in a plane crash.
Ray Charles was a killer piano blues guy, who also had lots of “country and western ” hits in his long career .
In the 1950′s Rythm and Blues broke out of it’s “race music ” stereotype and guys like Little Richard and James Brown got radio time and sold millions of records. R&B has it’s roots in the Blues, but with more speed and showmanship on stage. A traditional blues player woud never go on stage in a silver lame suit like James Brown did.
The modern blues players are not all black. Slow Hand …Eric Clappton is British, as are many other current Blues guitar heros. A blind guy from Canada, Jeff Healey, blew everyone away with his unique style, playing his Fender Telecaster flat on his knees while sitting down. He recently died of cancer, at age 41.
